Middlesex County Cricket Club of England is negotiating with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the club’s participation in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Talks between the parties have been going smoothly and further negotiations are on the table, according to The Cricketer.

“The PCB is interested in bringing foreign national teams into the PSL and we have had discussions with them.” Andrew Cornish, Middlesex CEO, to The Cricketer. “These talks have been very positive and we expect them to continue in the coming weeks.”

Middlesex is unlikely to take part in the eighth edition of the PSL which is due to start on February 13.

However, as a sign of commitment, a squad is likely to be sent on a short pre-season warm-up trip.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is aware of the talks and has no objection in principle.

PSL timing often favors English teams and paying Middlesex players should reduce the need for significant additional funds.

However, the ECB would still have to pay for the accommodation and transport of a significant number of players and staff abroad for around six weeks.

It is expected that the Middlesex women’s team, youth teams, and disability team will have playing opportunities during the trip.

It’s worth mentioning here that Middlesex arguably doesn’t have to pay anything to join the PSL, unlike other teams who have had to pay millions to do so.
